DeskNotes 2.3.0 Final

Numbered lists are finally here! Version 2.3.0 of DeskNotes is available for download.
  • This version adds Numbered lists formatting into DeskNotes and Archive. Switching among 5 numbering styles and bullet style is possible using Ctrl+Shift+L shortcut.

DeskNotes 2.2.3 and previous versions added following features or bug fixes:

2.2.3 fixes several bugs found recently and reported by users.

  1. bug #7781 - Pressing Ctrl+left mouse button makes Desknote readonly
  2. bug #7780 - DeskNotes does not use user's default email client
  3. bug #7777 - DeskNote copy in Outlook is always deleted
  4. bug # 7776 - DeskNote text area is not scrolled correctly if Formatting toolbar is shown
  5. bug #7774 - Pressing CtrlShiftB does not work in DeskNote

Version 2.2.2 and older added following features or bug fixes:

  1. 2.2.2 - Bug fixed: Newly specified data files are rewritten by old ones if changed in Settings dialog, bug #7253

Version 2.2.1 added following improvements

  1. Switchable behavior of DeskNote can be set in Settings dialog for all newly created desknotes.
  2. Improvement in DeskNote Reminder visual appearance.
  3. Formatting toolbar visible or hidden state is remembered between DeskNotes restarts for each DeskNote.
  4. Improved Settings dialog panel for background, text color and Font selection.
  5. 9 other bug fixes completed.

Features available in 2.2 and older versions

  1. DeskNote can be made visible in Windows taskbar and switchable in Windows Alt+Tab com253mand. The menu action Switchable was added to DeskNote menu to set particular DeskNote into Switchable mode.
  2. Drag & Drop for text from & to DeskNote
  3. DeskNotes are being printed as they are formatted - using Rich Text Format. This applies to both desktop and archived DeskNotes.
  4. Ctrl+ increases selected text and Ctrl + - decreases selected text. This is similar to a feature most of the web browsers have.
  5. Archive search allows the search in archived DeskNotes. It has following syntax:
    1. "term1 term2" : exactly these terms are searched inside DeskNotes archive.
    2. term1 term2 : searches for DeskNotes with term1 or term2 or both.
    3. term1 +term2 : searches DeskNotes where is term1 and also term2, If there is only one of these terms then DeskNote is not selected.
    4. term1 -term2 : searches for DeskNotes where term1 is present but it does not contain term2.
  6. Online help describing main pieces of DeskNotes like Search and some scenarios like archiving,....

Installation

DeskNotes 2.x.x can be installed using DeskNotes_Setup_2.x.x_Final.msi download. After downloading the file start the installation. It will create DeskNotes icon on Windows desktop and in Startup folder in start menu.

Zip file

DeskNotes can be also simply unzipped from DeskNotes_2.X.X_Final_executable.zip file. This zip file contains all necessary binaries to start using DeskNotes

1st start

Upon 1st start DeskNotes asks for providing data files where data are stored. DeskNotes asks for Data file and Archive file. Data file is used to store information displayed on Windows desktop, while Archive file stores archived DeskNotes which don't appear on a desktop. These files are created if they don't exist.

.NET Framework

DeskNotes requires MS .NET Framework 2.0 to run. MS .NET Framework 2.0 is available on Windows Vista and Windows 7, but must be downloaded and installed on Windows XP.

NRTFTree library

DeskNotes 2.1 and newer bundles NRTFTree library 0.3.3503 which is licensed under Lesser GPL (LGPL).

The only 'sticky' notes app I haven't uninstalled in a few hours. I've had it running now for nearly 6 months
